FRONT SUSPENSION: FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT: REMOVAL

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.
* The following procedure is for the LH side.

1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

2. SEPARATE FRONT SPEED SENSOR WIRE Removal

3. SEPARATE HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ HID Headlight System) Removal

4. SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY Replacement

5. REMOVE FRONT DISC

for Floating Type Caliper Removal

for Opposed Type Caliper Removal

6. SEPARATE STEERING KNUCKLE WITH AXLE ASSEMBLY Removal

7. SEPARATE TIE ROD ASSEMBLY

(a) Rotate the steering knuckle as shown in the illustration.

(b) Remove the clip and nut.





(c) Install 2 spacers (SST spacer B) onto the front lower ball joint as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:
As SST may be damaged, make sure that the clearance between the arm and spacers is less than 1 mm (0.0394 in.).

(d) Using SST, separate the tie rod end from the front lower ball joint as shown in the illustration.

CAUTION:
Apply grease to the threads and end of the SST bolt.

NOTICE:
* Be sure to tighten the string firmly to secure SST to the coil spring to prevent SST from falling off.
* Install SST so that A and B are parallel.
* Be sure to place a wrench on the part indicated in the illustration.
* Do not damage the front lower ball joint dust cover.

8. REMOVE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the clip and nut.





(b) Install 2 spacers (SST spacer A) onto the front lower ball joint as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:
As SST may be damaged, make sure that the clearance between the arm and spacers is less than 1 mm (0.0394 in.).

(c) Using SST, remove the front lower ball joint assembly from the front lower suspension arm assembly as shown in the illustration.
