AT THIS POINT IN THE DRIVEABILITY TEST PROCEDURE YOU HAVE DETERMINED THAT ALL OF THE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEMS ARE OPERATING AS THEY WERE DESIGNED TO. THEREFORE THEY ARE NOT THE CAUSE OF THE DRIVEABILITY PROBLEM.THE FOLLOWING ADDITIONAL ITEMS SHOULD BE CHECKED AS POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. ENGINE VACUUM-MUST BE AT LEAST 13 INCHES IN NEUTRAL.
2. ENGINE VALVE TIMING - TO SPECIFICATIONS.
3. ENGINE COMPRESSION - TO SPECIFICATIONS.
4. ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM - ENGINE MUST BE ABLE TO REACH OPERATING TEMPERATURE.
5. ENGINE EXHAUST SYSTEM - MUST BE FREE OF ANY RESTRICTIONS.
6. ENGINE PCV SYSTEM - MUST FLOW FREELY.
7. FUEL PUMP PRESSURE VOLUME, AND VACUUM - TO SPECIFICATIONS.
NOTE: HIGH ALTITUDE VEHICLES HAVE A 2� PSI FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR.
8. TORQUE CONVERTOR STALL SPEED - TO SPECIFICATIONS.
9. POWER BRAKE BOOSTER-- NO INTERNAL VACUUM LEAKS.
10. FUEL CONTAMINATION - HIGH ALCOHOL AND WATER CONTENT.
11. CARBURETOR - CONTAMINATION OF ANY CIRCUITS AND ALL ITEMS TO SPECIFICATIONS NOT COVERED IN THE TEST PROCEDURE.
12. TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS-ANY THAT MAY APPLY TO VEHICLE.
ANY ONE OR MORE OF THESE ITEMS CAN GIVE A DRIVEABILITY RELATED PROBLEM. THEY CANNOT BE OVERLOOKED AS POSSIBLE CAUSES.
