Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Heater Replacement
Removal Procedure
Important: Do not attempt to pull the heat mat away from the seat pad as seat pad foam may be damaged.
Important: When cutting the fly lead and thermostat from the failed heat mat ensure the seat pad foam is not cut or damaged.
Important: The heat mats may be only replaced once by the method of fixing a new heat mat over the failed unit. Should a subsequent replacement be required, the seat pad must also be replaced.
1. Remove the front seat. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement (Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement) .
2. Remove the front seat cushion outer trim panel. Refer to Seat Cushion Outer Trim Panel Replacement (Seat Cushion Outer Trim Panel Replacement) .
3. Remove the front seat cushion inner trim panel. Refer to Seat Cushion Inner Trim Panel Replacement (Seat Cushion Inner Trim Panel Replacement) .
4. Remove the front seat back trim assembly. Refer to Front Seat Back Trim Replacement (Front Seat Back Trim Replacement) .
5. Remove the front seat head restraint assembly. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement (Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement) .
6. Remove the front seat head restraint guide. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Guide Replacement (Front Seat Head Restraint Guide Replacement) .
7. Remove the Lumbar support knob assembly. Refer to Lumbar Support Knob Replacement (Lumbar Support Knob Replacement) .
8. Remove the front seat cushion cover and pad assembly. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement (Front Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement) .
9. Disconnect the fly lead electrical connection (1).
10. If the failed heat mat is the original unit and it has not been fitted over an existing heat mat, cut and remove the fly lead (1) and thermostat (2) from the failed heat mat (3).
Installation Procedure
Important: The heat mats may be only replaced once by the method of fixing a new heat mat over the failed unit. Should a subsequent replacement be required, the seat pad must also be replaced.
Important: Ensure the heat mat is fitted neatly over the failed unit following the contours of the seat pad.
1. Remove the backing from the double sided adhesive tape on the new heat mat.
2. Position the new heat mat over the existing, failed unit.
3. Engage the new fly lead electrical connector (1).
4. Install the front seat cushion cover and pad assembly. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement (Front Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement) .
5. Install the Lumbar support knob assembly. Refer to Lumbar Support Knob Replacement (Lumbar Support Knob Replacement) .
6. Install the front seat head restraint guide. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Guide Replacement (Front Seat Head Restraint Guide Replacement) .
7. Install the front seat head restraint assembly. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement (Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement) .
8. Install the front seat back trim assembly. Refer to Front Seat Back Trim Replacement (Front Seat Back Trim Replacement) .
9. Install the front seat cushion inner trim panel. Refer to Seat Cushion Inner Trim Panel Replacement (Seat Cushion Inner Trim Panel Replacement) .
10. Install the front seat cushion outer trim panel. Refer to Seat Cushion Outer Trim Panel Replacement (Seat Cushion Outer Trim Panel Replacement) .
11. Install the front seat. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement (Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement) .
12. Re-zero the inflatable restraint passenger presence system. Refer to .Passenger Presence System Programming and Setup (Programming and Relearning) .
