Parking Brake Shoe Replacement
Removal Procedure
Danger: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the park brake adjustment access hole plug (1) from the brake disc (2).
4. Rotate the park brake adjuster nut (1) until all park brake shoe adjustment has been removed.
5. Remove the rear brake caliper and brake disc. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. Remove the wheel bearing and hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (Rear Suspension).
7. Remove the park brake shoe retaining spring (1).
Note: Detach the park brake shoe (1) from the actuator assembly (2) by grasping the park brake shoe assembly (1) and pushing upwards.
8. Detach the park brake shoe (1) from the actuator assembly (2).
9. Remove the park brake shoe (1).
Installation Procedure

Note: Attach the park brake shoe assembly (1) to the actuator assembly (2) by grasping the park brake shoe assembly (1) and spreading slightly while pulling the shoe over the actuator assembly (2).
1. Attach the park brake shoe assembly (1) to the actuator assembly (2).
2. Install the parking brake shoe retaining spring (1).
3. Install the wheel bearing and hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (Rear Suspension).
4. Install the rear brake disc and rear brake caliper. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Adjust the park brake. Refer to Parking Brake Adjustment (Adjustments).
6. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
7. Lower the vehicle.
