Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Service and Repair
Engine Coolant Fan Motor Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the cooling fan and shroud assembly. Refer to Cooling Fan and Shroud Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Disconnect electrical harness connector from motor.
Note: Armature shaft is left hand thread.
3. Remove the cooling fan motor (3) to fan retaining nut (4).
4. Separate fan blade (1) from the fan motor (3).
5. Remove the cooling fan motor to fan shroud retaining bolts (2).
6. Remove the cooling fan motor from shroud.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the cooling fan motor (3) to shroud.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
2. Install cooling fan motor to shroud retaining bolts (2) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
Note: When replacing the fan and fan motor, ensure the fan to fan motor retaining nut is replaced.
3. Install the fan (1) to the cooling fan motor (3).
4. Install the fan (1) to the fan motor (2) retaining nut (4) and tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb in).
5. Install the cooling fan and shroud assembly. Refer to Cooling Fan and Shroud Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. Start and run engine until the cooling fans are activated.
