Front Seat Belt Replacement

Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to SIR Warning (SIR Warning).

Warning: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Warning (SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Warning).

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair).
2. Move the seat all the way forward towards the front of the vehicle, to gain access to the seat belt.
3. Remove the seat belt tensioner trim cover. Refer to Front Seat Belt Front Trim Cover Replacement (Front Seat Belt Front Trim Cover Replacement).
4. Remove the front seat outer rear track cover. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Outer Adjuster Rear Finish Cover Replacement (Driver or Passenger Seat Outer Adjuster Rear Finish Cover Replacement).
5. Remove the front seat outer front track cover. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Outer Adjuster Front Finish Cover Replacement (Driver or Passenger Seat Outer Adjuster Front Finish Cover Replacement).
6. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement (Rear Seat Cushion Replacement).
7. Remove the front and rear door sill trim plates. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement (Service and Repair).
8. Remove the lower centre pillar trim plate. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement (Service and Repair).
9. Remove the upper centre pillar trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement (Service and Repair).
10. Remove the front seat belt tensioner. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Belt Tensioner Replacement (Removal and Replacement).




11. Remove the intermediate seat belt guide screws (2).
12. Remove the intermediate seat belt guide (1).




13. Remove the front seat belt upper guide bolt assembly (1).




14. Disconnect the seat belt retractor pretensioner electrical connector (4).
15. Remove the front seat belt retractor bolt (3).
16. Lift the retractor (1) in an upwards direction.
17. Tilt the retractor on a 30 degree angle making sure that the locking tab (2) is clear.
18. Remove the dust cover from the centre pillar (if required).

Installation Procedure




1. Install the front seat belt dust cover to the vehicle (if removed).

Note: Make sure that the locking tab (2) is seated correctly.

2. Install the front seat belt retractor (1) to the vehicle.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

3. Install the retractor to pillar retaining bolt (4) and tighten to 43 Nm (32 lb ft).
4. Connect the seat belt retractor pretensioner electrical connector (4).




5. Install the front seat belt upper guide assembly (1) and tighten to 43 Nm (32 lb ft).




6. Install the intermediate seat belt guide (1) to the vehicle. Secure the guide with the screws (2) and tighten to 3 Nm (27 lb in).
7. Install the front seat belt tensioner. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Belt Tensioner Replacement (Removal and Replacement).
8. Install the upper centre pillar trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement (Service and Repair).
9. Install the lower centre panel trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement (Service and Repair).
10. Install the front and rear door sill trim plates. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement (Service and Repair).
11. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement (Rear Seat Cushion Replacement).
12. Install the front seat outer front track cover. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Outer Adjuster Front Finish Cover Replacement (Driver or Passenger Seat Outer Adjuster Front Finish Cover Replacement).
13. Install the front seat outer rear track cover. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Outer Adjuster Rear Finish Cover Replacement (Driver or Passenger Seat Outer Adjuster Rear Finish Cover Replacement).
14. Install the front seat belt tensioner trim cover. Refer to Front Seat Belt Front Trim Cover Replacement (Front Seat Belt Front Trim Cover Replacement).
15. Move the front seat back to original position.
16. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair).
17. If re-programming is required. Refer to Control Module References (Programming and Relearning).
