Rear Bumper Impact Bar Replacement

Removal Procedure

Danger: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.


Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning (Safety Glasses Warning).

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the rear bumper fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement (Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement).




3. Remove the rear bumper impact bar to rear bumper impact bar bracket retaining nuts (2).
4. Remove the rear bumper impact bar (1).

Installation Procedure




1. Install the rear bumper impact bar (1) to the rear impact bar brackets.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the rear bumper impact bar to rear bumper impact bar bracket retaining nuts (2).

1. Install the upper retaining nuts first.
2. Install the lower retaining nuts second and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).

3. Install the rear bumper fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement (Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement).
4. Lower the vehicle.
