Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Right Side

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).




3. Remove the spark plug leads (1).




4. Remove the CPA lock (2) from the ignition coil main connector (3).
5. Disconnect the ignition coil main connector (3).
6. Remove the ignition coil assembly to valve rocker arm cover retaining studs (4).
7. Remove the ignition coil assembly (1).




8. Remove the valve rocker arm cover retaining bolts (2) and valve rocker arm cover (1).
9. Remove the valve rocker arm cover (1). Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Installation - Right Side (Overhaul).





Note: The valve rocker arm cover gasket is a single use only component and must be replaced whenever the valve rocker arm cover is removed from the cylinder head.

10. Remove the valve rocker arm cover gasket (1).
Discard the valve rocker arm cover gasket (1).




11. Remove the oil fill cap (1) from the oil fill tube (2).

Note: Do not remove the oil fill tube from the cover, unless service is required. If the oil fill tube has been removed from the cover, install a NEW tube during assembly.

12. Remove the oil fill tube (2), from the right hand valve rocker arm cover (3) if required.
Discard the oil fill tube (2).

Installation Procedure




1. Install the NEW oil fill tube (2), to the right hand valve rocker arm cover (3) if required.
2. Install the oil fill cap (1) to the oil fill tube (2).

Note:
* All gasket surfaces should be free of oil and other foreign material during assembly.
* DO NOT reuse the valve rocker arm cover gasket.
* The valve rocker arm cover bolt grommets may be reused.




3. Install a NEW valve rocker arm cover gasket (1).
4. Install the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Installation - Right Side (Overhaul).




5. Install the ignition coil assembly (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

6. Install the ignition coil bracket to valve rocker arm cover retaining studs (4) and tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb in).
7. Connect the ignition coil main connector (3).
8. Install the CPA lock (2) from the ignition coil main connector (3).




9. Install the spark plug leads (1).
10. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
