Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement

Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning (Safety Glasses Warning).


Danger: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.


1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).





Note: Nuts with micro-encapsulated thread sealant must be discarded after removal.

3. Remove the stabilizer bar link to stabilizer bar retaining nut (1).
Discard the nut.
4. Disconnect the stabilizer bar link (2) from the stabilizer bar (3).




5. Remove the stabilizer bar link to strut assembly retaining nut (2).
Discard the nut.
6. Remove the stabilizer link bar (1) from the strut assembly bracket (3).
7. Inspect all parts for wear and damage.

Installation Procedure





Note: Install the shorter link end to the stabilizer bar.

1. Install the stabilizer bar link (2) to the stabilizer bar (3).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the NEW stabilizer bar link to stabilizer bar retaining nut (1) and tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).





Note: Install the longer link end to the strut.

3. Install the stabilizer bar link (1) to the strut assembly bracket (3).
4. Install the NEW stabilizer bar link to strut assembly retaining nut (2) and tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
5. Install the front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
6. Remove the safety stands.
7. Lower the vehicle to the ground.
