Disabling Air Bag System

When servicing air bag system, related parts and working around air bag (inflator) module, disable air bag (inflator) modules as follows.







Disabling Procedure (Disconnecting Negative (-) Cable at Battery)

1) Set front wheels in straight-ahead position.
2) Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "OFF".
3) Disconnect negative (-) cable at battery.
4) Wait for at least 90 seconds after performing Step 3), and then start working.

Disabling Procedure (Removing "A/B" Fuse)

NOTE:

Air bag warning light will light if "A/B" fuse is disconnected, but this is normal and DTC for air bag system will not be detected.

1) Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "OFF".
2) Remove "A/B" fuse from junction block.
3) Wait for at least 90 seconds after performing Step 2).
4) Start working and change ignition mode to ON.

Disabling Procedure (Disconnecting Negative (-) Cable at Battery and Removing All Air Bag (Inflator) Modules)

1) Set front wheels in straight-ahead position.
2) Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "OFF".
3) Disconnect negative (-) cable at battery.
4) Wait for at least 90 seconds after performing Step 3).
5) Remove all air bag (inflator) modules and start working.
