Removal








SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION: Be sure to read the "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing Service Precautions.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag working.

3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH Removal
4. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH Removal
5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR WEATHERSTRIP RH
6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.2 Removal
7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL RH Removal
8. DISCONNECT FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR





(a) Disconnect the connector.

NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY

HINT: Refer to the procedures up to "REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY" Removal.

10. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT NO.2 Removal
11. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.3 Removal
12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the clip.
(b) Disconnect the 2 connectors from the front passenger airbag assembly.

NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

13. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 screws.





(b) Release the rear side airbag door from the hook by slightly deflecting it and roll the front passenger airbag assembly forward.
(c) Release the front side airbag door from the other hook and remove the front passenger airbag assembly.
14. INSPECT FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
