INTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: ROOF HEADLINING: REMOVAL

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system Service Precautions.

2. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER Removal
3. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER Removal
4. REMOVE STEERING PAD Removal
5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Removal
6. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
8. REMOVE METER HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
9. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal
10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH

(a) Disengage the 8 claws and remove the front door scuff plate LH.
11. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH

(a) Disengage the clip and claw, and remove the cowl side trim board LH.
12. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH

(a) Remove the front door opening trim weatherstrip LH.
13. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (w/o Curtain Shield Airbag)

(a) Pull the upper part of the garnish toward the inside of the cabin and disengage the 2 clips.
(b) Disengage the 2 guides and remove the front pillar garnish LH.
14. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (w/ Curtain Shield Airbag)

(a) Pull the upper part of the garnish toward the inside of the cabin and disengage the 2 clips.
(b) Cut off the clip [A].
(c) Disengage the 2 guides and remove the front pillar garnish LH.
(d) Remove the clip [A] from the vehicle body.

(e) Protect the curtain shield airbag assembly.
(1) Cover the airbag with a 700 mm (27.5 in.) x 120 mm (4.72 in.) cloth or piece of nylon and secure the ends of the cover with tape, as shown in the illustration.
NOTE: Cover the curtain shield airbag with a protective cover as soon as the front pillar garnish is removed.

15. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
HINT: Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

16. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH
HINT: Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

17. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH
HINT: Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

18. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH (w/o Curtain Shield Airbag)
HINT: Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

19. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH (w/ Curtain Shield Airbag)

(e) Protect the curtain shield airbag assembly.
(1) Cover the airbag with a 700 mm (27.5 in.) x 120 mm (4.72 in.) cloth or piece of nylon and secure the ends of the cover with tape, as shown in the illustration.
NOTE: Cover the curtain shield airbag with a protective cover as soon as the front pillar garnish is removed.

20. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY Removal
21. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle) Removal
22. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle) Removal
23. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle) Removal
24. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle) Removal
25. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY Removal
26. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX DOOR SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
27. DISCONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY Removal
28. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
29. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH

(a) Disengage the 6 claws and remove the rear door scuff plate LH.
30. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH

(a) Remove the rear door opening trim weatherstrip LH.
31. REMOVE LAP BELT OUTER ANCHOR COVER (for Driver Side) Removal
32. DISCONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY LH Removal
33. REMOVE LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LH

(a) Disengage the 2 claws and 2 clips, and remove the lower center pillar garnish LH.
34. REMOVE UPPER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LH

(a) Remove the 2 screws.
(b) Using a clip remover, disengage the clip and remove the upper center pillar garnish LH.
35. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
HINT: Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

36. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH
HINT: Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

37. REMOVE LAP BELT OUTER ANCHOR COVER (for Front Passenger Side) Removal

39. DISCONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY RH Removal

41. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY Removal
42. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)

(a) Disengage the 2 guides and remove the deck board assembly.
54. REMOVE NO. 2 DECK BOARD

(a) Disengage the 2 guides and remove the No. 2 deck board.
55. REMOVE JACK CARRIER ASSEMBLY
56. REMOVE JACK ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the jack assembly.
57. REMOVE DECK FLOOR BOX LH

(a) Remove the bolt.
(b) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the deck floor box LH.
58. REMOVE DECK FLOOR BOX RH

(a) Remove the bolt.
(b) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the deck floor box RH.
59. REMOVE CHILD RESTRAINT SEAT TETHER ANCHOR Removal
60. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRAY

(a) Remove the 2 bolts.
(b) Remove the luggage compartment tray.
61. REMOVE REAR DECK TRIM COVER

(a) Disengage the 8 claws and 2 guides, and remove the rear deck trim cover.
62. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK HINGE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)

(a) Remove the bolt and rear seatback hinge sub-assembly.
63. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH LH

(a) Disengage the 4 claws and clip and guide, and remove the rear seat side garnish LH.
64. DISCONNECT REAR SEAT 3 POINT TYPE BELT ASSEMBLY LH Removal
65. REMOVE LUGGAGE HOLD BELT STRIKER ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)
(a) for front side:

(1) Remove the bolt and luggage hold belt striker assembly.
(b) for rear side:

(1) Remove the bolt and luggage hold belt striker assembly.
66. REMOVE NO. 1 LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM HOOK (for LH Side)

(a) Remove the 2 screws.
(b) Disengage the claws, and remove the 2 No. 1 luggage compartment trim hooks.
67. REMOVE REAR COMBINATION LIGHT SERVICE COVER LH

(a) Disengage the 4 claws and 2 guides, and remove the rear combination light service cover LH.
68. REMOVE SIDE DECK TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Disengage the 5 claws and 3 clips, and remove the side deck trim panel assembly LH.
69. REMOVE QUARTER PILLAR GARNISH LH

(a) Disengage the 2 claws, 3 clips and 2 guides, and remove the quarter pillar garnish LH.
70. REMOVE ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH LH

(a) Disengage the 7 clips and remove the roof side inner garnish LH.
71. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK HINGE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for RH Side)
HINT: Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

72. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH RH

(a) Disengage the 4 claws and clip and guide, and remove the rear seat side garnish RH.
73. DISCONNECT REAR SEAT 3 POINT TYPE BELT ASSEMBLY RH Removal
74. REMOVE LUGGAGE HOLD BELT STRIKER ASSEMBLY (for RH Side)
HINT: Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

75. REMOVE NO. 1 LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM HOOK (for RH Side)
HINT: Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

76. REMOVE REAR COMBINATION LIGHT SERVICE COVER RH (w/ Woofer)

(a) Disengage the 3 claws and 3 guides, and remove the rear combination light service cover RH.
77. REMOVE SIDE DECK TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY RH (w/o Woofer)

(a) Disengage the 5 claws and 3 clips, and remove the side deck trim panel assembly RH.
78. REMOVE SIDE DECK TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY RH (w/ Woofer)

(a) Disengage the 5 claws and 3 clips, and remove the side deck trim panel assembly RH.
79. REMOVE QUARTER PILLAR GARNISH RH
HINT: Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

80. REMOVE ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH RH
HINT: Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

81. REMOVE INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR COVER (w/ EC Mirror) Removal
82. REMOVE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (w/o Sliding Roof) Removal

86. REMOVE SUN ROOF OPENING TRIM MOULDING (w/ Sliding Roof)
87. REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 claws and remove the visor bracket cover.

(b) Disengage the 2 clips and remove the visor assembly LH.
(c) Remove the 2 clips from the vehicle body.
88. REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

89. REMOVE FRONT ASSIST GRIP SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Curtain Shield Airbag)

(a) Using a clip remover, disengage the 4 claws.
NOTE: Do not forcibly pry the assist grip covers to prevent them from being deformed.
- Gently pry on the assist grip covers as shown in the illustration to remove them.
- Tape the clip remover tip before use.

(b) Pull off the 2 assist grip covers by hand.

(c) Disengage the 2 clips and remove the front assist grip sub-assembly.
(d) Remove the 2 clips from the vehicle body.
90. REMOVE FRONT ASSIST GRIP SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Curtain Shield Airbag)

(c) Disengage the 2 clips and remove the 2 front assist grip sub-assembly.
(d) Remove the 2 clips from the vehicle body.
HINT: Use the same procedure for the RH side and the LH side.

91. REMOVE REAR ASSIST GRIP ASSEMBLY

(c) Disengage the 2 clips and remove the rear assist grip assembly.
(d) Remove the 2 clips from the vehicle body.
HINT: Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

92. REMOVE VISOR HOLDER

(a) Turn the visor holder approximately 45° and pull it out as shown in the illustration.
(b) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the visor holder.
HINT: Use the same procedure for the RH side and the LH side.

93. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY (w/o Sliding Roof)
(a) w/ EC Mirror:
(1) Disconnect the inner rear view mirror connector.
(b) Disengage each clamp from the front pillar LH.
(c) Disconnect the No. 1 roof wire connectors from the instrument panel junction block.
(d) Disconnect the antenna cord sub-assembly connector and disengage each clamp from the front pillar RH.
(e) Disconnect the antenna cord sub-assembly connectors and remove the bolt from the rear pillar RH.
(f) Remove the 2 clips.

(g) Remove the roof headlining assembly from the vehicle through the back door.
NOTE: Do not damage the roof headlining assembly or body interior.

94. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY (w/ Sliding Roof)
(a) w/ EC Mirror:
(1) Disconnect the inner rear view mirror connector.
(b) Disengage each clamp from the front pillar LH.
(c) Disconnect the No. 1 roof wire connectors from the instrument panel junction block.
(d) Disconnect the antenna cord sub-assembly connector and disengage each clamp from the front pillar RH.
(e) Disconnect the antenna cord sub-assembly connectors and remove the bolt from the rear pillar RH.
(f) Disconnect the sliding roof drive gear connector.
(g) Remove the 2 clips.

(h) Remove the roof headlining assembly from the vehicle through the back door.
NOTE: Do not damage the roof headlining assembly or body interior.

95. REMOVE NO. 1 ROOF SILENCER PAD (w/o Sliding Roof)
(a) Remove the 3 No. 1 roof silencer pads from the roof headlining assembly.

96. REMOVE NO. 1 ROOF SILENCER PAD (w/ Sliding Roof)
(a) Remove the 2 No. 1 roof silencer pads from the roof headlining assembly.

97. REMOVE NO. 2 ROOF SILENCER PAD (w/o Sliding Roof)
(a) Remove the 3 No. 2 roof silencer pads from the roof headlining assembly.

98. REMOVE ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Sliding Roof) Removal
99. REMOVE ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Sliding Roof) Removal
100. REMOVE NO. 1 ROOF WIRE (w/o Sliding Roof)
(a) Remove the adhesive tape from the roof headlining assembly.
(b) Remove the No. 1 roof wire from the roof headlining assembly.

101. REMOVE NO. 1 ROOF WIRE (w/ Sliding Roof)
(a) Remove the adhesive tape from the roof headlining assembly.
(b) Disengage the 3 clamps, and remove the No. 1 roof wire from the roof headlining assembly.
