Illumination Circuit
DESCRIPTION
Power is supplied to the multi-display and steering pad switch illumination when the light control switch is in the TAIL or HEAD position.
WIRING DIAGRAM
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTE: The vehicle is equipped with an SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) which includes components such as airbags. Before servicing (including removal or installation of parts), be sure to read the precautionary notice for the Supplemental Restraint System Service Precautions.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK ILLUMINATION LIGHT
(a) Check if the illumination for the multi-display, radio receiver, steering pad switch, glove box light or others (combination meter, hazard switch, etc.) comes on when the light control switch is turned to the HEAD or TAIL position.
Result:
C -- GO TO METER / GAUGE SYSTEM
B -- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (MULTI-DISPLAY - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SPIRAL CABLE - BATTERY)
(a) Disconnect the C12 cable connector.
(b) Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.
Standard voltage:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the switch connector.
(b) Connect the positive (+) lead to terminal 5 (ILL+) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 8 (EAU) of the steering pad switch connector.
(c) Check if the illumination for the steering pad switch comes on.
OK:
Illumination for the steering pad switch assembly comes on.
NG -- REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE
(a) Disconnect the cable connectors.
(b) Measure the resistance of the cable.
Standard resistance:
NOTE: The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may prevent the airbag from deploying Removal.
NG -- REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (RADIO RECEIVER - SPIRAL CABLE AND BODY GROUND)
(a) Disconnect the R5 and R6 receiver connectors.
(b) Disconnect the C12 cable connector.
(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER
6. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (MULTI-DISPLAY - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)
(a) Disconnect the M13 display connector.
(b) Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.
Standard voltage:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
7. CHECK MULTI-DISPLAY
(a) Reconnect the M13 display connector.
(b) Measure the voltage of the display.
Standard voltage:
NG -- REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY
OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (MULTI-DISPLAY - LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT)
