Key Lock-in Prevention Function does not Work Properly (Manual Operation and Operation Interlocked with Key are Active)

DESCRIPTION

To prevent the key from being locked in the vehicle, the door control relay prevents doors from being locked by monitoring 2 switches: 1) the unlock warning switch, which turns ON when the key is inserted into the key slot; and 2) the driver side courtesy light switch, which turns ON when the driver side door is opened.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FRONT DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH LH)
(a) Check the Data List for proper function of the driver side door courtesy switch.
Main Body ECU:






OK:
ON (driver side door is open) appears on the screen.
OK -- INSPECT KEY SLOT
NG -- Continue to next step.

2. INSPECT FRONT DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH LH




(a) Remove the front door courtesy light switch.
(b) Measure the resistance of the switch
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE FRONT DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH LH
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SWITCH - DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK AND BODY GROUND)




(a) Disconnect the D7 switch connector.
(b) Disconnect the 1D junction block connector.
(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. INSPECT KEY SLOT




(a) Measure the resistance of the key slot.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE KEY SLOT
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SLOT - ECU)




(a) Disconnect the K2 key slot connector.
(b) Disconnect the T5 ECU connector.
(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY ECU ASSEMBLY
