1NZ-FXE LUBRICATION: OIL PUMP: INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove any old packing material from the contact surface.
(b) Install 2 new O-rings onto the 2 locations as shown in the illustration.
(c) Apply seal packing to the oil pump assembly, cylinder head and cylinder block as shown in the illustration below.





Seal packing:
Water pump part: Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
Other part: Toyota Genuine Seal Packing Black, Three Bond 1207B or equivalent
NOTICE:
- Remove any oil from the contact surface.
- Install the oil pump within 3 minutes of applying seal packing.
- Do not expose the seal to engine oil for at least 2 hours after installation.
- Do not start the engine for at least 2 hours after installation.





(d) Align the keyway of the oil pump drive rotor with the rectangular portion of the crankshaft, and slide the oil pump into place.





(e) Using an E8 "torx" socket wrench, install the stud bolt.
Torque: 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7.4 ft-lbf)





(f) Install the oil pump assembly with the 15 bolts and nut. Uniformly tighten the bolts and nut in several steps.
Torque: 32 Nm (326 kgf-cm, 24 ft-lbf)
Torque: 11 Nm (112 kgf-cm, 8.1 ft-lbf)
Torque: 11 Nm (112 kgf-cm, 8.1 ft-lbf)
Torque: 24 Nm (245 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf)
Torque: 24 Nm (245 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf)

NOTICE:
- Be careful not to disturb the seal packing.
- After installing the timing chain case, install the mounting bracket and water pump within 15 minutes.
HINT: Each bolt length is as follows:
30 mm (1.18 in.) for bolt A
35 mm (1.38 in.) for bolt B
20 mm (0.79 in.) for bolt C
20 to 14 mm (0.79 to 0.55 in.) for bolt E

2. INSTALL CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR Installation
3. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY
(a) Apply a light coat of engine oil to the O-ring.
(b) Install the camshaft timing oil control valve with the bolt.
Torque: 7.5 Nm (76 kgf-cm, 66 in-lbf)
4. INSTALL ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET
Torque: 55 Nm (561 kgf-cm, 41 ft-lbf)
5. INSTALL ENGINE MOUNTING SPACER
Torque: 52 Nm (530 kgf-cm, 38 ft-lbf)
6. INSTALL ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH





(a) Install the engine mounting insulator with the 3 bolts and 4 nuts.
Torque: 52 Nm (530 kgf-cm, 38 ft-lbf)





7. INSTALL CRANKSHAFT PULLEY
(a) Align the hole of the crankshaft pulley with the straight pin, then install the crankshaft pulley.
(b) Using SST, hold the crankshaft pulley and tighten the crankshaft bolt.
SST: 09213-58013
91111-50845
SST: 09330-00021
Torque: 128 Nm (1305 kgf-cm, 95 ft-lbf)
NOTE: When installing SST, be careful that the bolt which holds SST does not interfere with the chain cover.

8. INSTALL WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY Installation

12. INSTALL CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Apply seal packing to the 2 locations shown in the illustration, then install the cylinder head cover.
Seal packing:
Toyota Genuine Seal Packing Black, Three Bond 1207B or Equivalent
NOTICE:
- Remove any oil from the contact surface.
- Install the cylinder head cover within 3 minutes after applying seal packing.
- Do not start the engine within 2 hours of installing.





(b) Install the cylinder head cover with the 9 bolts and 2 nuts.
(c) Using several steps, tighten the bolts and nuts with the specified torque in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque: 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf)
(d) Install the ignition coil with the bolt.
Torque: 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 in-lbf)
(e) Install the brake master cylinder reservoir cover to the cylinder head cover.
(f) Install the wire harness and brake master cylinder reservoir cover with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 in-lbf)
(g) Connect the fuel injector connector and ignition coil connector.





13. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WASHER JAR ASSEMBLY
Torque: 4.9 Nm (50 kgf-cm, 43 in-lbf)
Torque: 14 Nm (143 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf)
Torque: 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 in-lbf)
14. INSTALL RESERVOIR BRACKET
Torque: 8.5 Nm (87 kgf-cm, 75 in-lbf)
15. INSTALL BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR SUB-ASSEMBLY
Torque: 8.5 Nm (87 kgf-cm, 75 in-lbf)
16. INSTALL NO. 2 AIR CLEANER INLET
17. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY Installation
18. INSTALL FRONT COWL TOP PANEL OUTER Installation
19. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the windshield wiper motor and wiper link assembly Installation.
20. ADD ENGINE OIL Replacement
21. INSTALL SERVICE PLUG GRIP Installation
22. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL Installation
23. INSTALL REAR NO. 3 FLOOR BOARD Installation
24. INSTALL REAR DECK FLOOR BOX Installation
25. INSTALL REAR NO. 2 FLOOR BOARD Installation
26. ADD ENGINE COOLANT (for Engine) Testing and Inspection
27. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK (for Engine) Testing and Inspection
28. INSPECT FOR OIL LEAK
29. INSTALL RADIATOR SUPPORT OPENING COVER
30. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER RH
31. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
32. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL RH
Torque: 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf)
33. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
(a) Perform initialization Repair Instruction - Initialization.
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
