P2010
1AR-FE ENGINE CONTROL: SFI SYSTEM: P2009,P2010: Intake Manifold Runner Control Circuit Low (Bank 1)
DTC P2009 - Intake Manifold Runner Control Circuit Low (Bank 1)
DTC P2010 - Intake Manifold Runner Control Circuit High (Bank 1)
DESCRIPTION
The ECM activates the DC motor for the tumble control valve, which opens and closes the tumble control valve. The ECM activates the DC motor based on engine speed, coolant temperature, intake air temperature and other conditions.
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
When the voltage of the DC motor deviates from the standard range, the ECM determines that a malfunction has occurred and outputs a DTC.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
3. Turn the Techstream on.
4. Clear the DTCs.
5. Turn the ignition switch off.
6. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on.
7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / All Data / Coolant Temp.
8. Check that the coolant temperature is 60°C (140°F) or higher.
9. Wait approximately 10 seconds [A].
10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All readiness.
11. Input the DTC: P2009 or P2010.
12. Check the DTC judgment result [B].
HINT: If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
13. If the test result is UNKNOWN, enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes / Pending.
14. Read Pending DTCs.
HINT: If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
15. If the test result is INCOMPLETE or UNKNOWN and no pending DTC is output, perform a universal trip and check for permanent DTCs DTC Check / Clear.
HINT:
- If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT: Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
PROCEDURE
1. INSPECT INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ACTUATOR (FOR TUMBLE CONTROL VALVE)
(a) Inspect the intake air control valve actuator Testing and Inspection.
NG -- REPLACE INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ACTUATOR (FOR TUMBLE CONTROL VALVE)
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT INTAKE MANIFOLD (TUMBLE CONTROL VALVE OPERATION)
(a) Inspect the intake manifold Intake Manifold.
NG -- REPLACE INTAKE MANIFOLD
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ACTUATOR)
(a) Disconnect the ECM connector.
(b) Disconnect the intake air control valve actuator connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance (Check for Open):
Standard Resistance (Check for Short):
Text in Illustration
(d) Reconnect the ECM connector.
(e) Reconnect the intake air control valve actuator connector.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P2009 OR P2010)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Clear the DTCs DTC Check / Clear.
(e) Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in the Confirmation Driving Pattern.
(f) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
(g) Read the DTCs.
Result:
B -- CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
A -- REPLACE ECM
