1AR-FE ENGINE MECHANICAL: CYLINDER HEAD GASKET: REMOVAL

REMOVAL

1. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE
(a) Remove the engine and transaxle Removal.
2. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CONVERTER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the exhaust manifold converter Removal.
3. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY Removal
4. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
5. DISCONNECT NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE Removal
6. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD Removal
7. REMOVE CAMSHAFT
(a) Remove the camshafts Removal.
8. REMOVE VALVE STEM CAP
(a) Remove the 16 valve stem caps from the cylinder head.
HINT: Arrange the removed parts in the correct order.

9. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Using a 10 mm bi-hexagon wrench, uniformly loosen the 10 bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration. Remove the 10 cylinder head bolts and plate washers.
HINT: Be sure to keep the removed parts separate for each installation position.

NOTICE:
- Be careful not to drop washers into the cylinder head.
- Head warpage or cracking could result from removing bolts in an incorrect order.

(b) Remove the cylinder head.
10. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD GASKET
(a) Remove the cylinder head gasket from the cylinder block.
