1NZ-FE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM: SFI SYSTEM: P0560: System Voltage

DTC P0560 - System Voltage

DESCRIPTION

The battery supplies electricity to the ECM even when the ignition switch is in the OFF position. This power allows the ECM to store data such as DTC history, freeze frame data and fuel trim values. If the battery voltage falls below a minimum level, these memories are cleared and the ECM determines that there is a malfunction in the power supply circuit. When the engine is next started, the ECM illuminates the MIL and sets the DTC.

HINT: If DTC P0560 is set, the ECM does not store other DTCs or the data stored in the ECM are partly erased.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT: Read freeze frame data using a Techstream. Freeze frame data record the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data, from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FUSE (EFI FUSE)

(a) Remove the EFI fuse from the engine room relay block.
(b) Check the resistance of the EFI fuse.
Standard resistance:
Below 1 Ohms
(c) Reinstall the EFI fuse.
NG -- CHECK FOR SHORTS IN ALL HARNESSES AND CONNECTORS CONNECTED TO FUSE AND REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - EFI FUSE, EFI FUSE - BATTERY)

(a) Check the harness and the connector between the EFI fuse and ECM.
(1) Remove the EFI fuse from the engine room relay block.
(2) Disconnect the A21 ECM connector.
(3) Check the resistance.
Standard resistance (Check for open):

Standard resistance (Check for short):

(4) Reconnect the ECM connector.
(5) Reinstall the EFI fuse.
(b) Check the harness and the connector between the EFI fuse and battery.
(1) Remove the EFI fuse from the engine room relay block.
(2) Disconnect the positive battery terminal.
(3) Check the resistance.
Standard resistance (Check for open):

Standard resistance (Check for short):

(4) Reconnect the positive battery terminal.
(5) Reinstall the EFI fuse.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT BATTERY
(a) Check that the battery is not depleted.
OK:
Battery is not depleted
NG -- REPLACE BATTERY
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK BATTERY TERMINAL
(a) Check that the battery terminals are not loose or corroded.
OK:
Battery terminals are not loose or corroded
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE BATTERY TERMINAL
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0560)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the tester ON.
(d) Clear DTCs DTC Check / Clear.
(e) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
(f) Turn the tester OFF.
(g) Start the engine and turn the tester ON.
(h) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
(i) Read DTCs.
Result:

B -- CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
A -- REPLACE ECM
