AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL: REAR AXLE HUB BOLT: REPLACEMENT

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

2. REMOVE FRONT UPPER CONSOLE BOX (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension) Removal

3. LOOSEN PARKING BRAKE CABLE (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension) Removal

4. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER PROTECTOR (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension) Removal

5. DISCONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension) Removal

6. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension)

(a) Remove the 2 bolts, and separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly.





NOTICE:
Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the brake caliper from hanging down by the flexible hose.

7. REMOVE REAR DISC (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension) Removal

8. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB BOLT (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension)

(a) Temporarily install the 2 nuts and 2 washers to the rear axle hub bolt as shown in the illustration.





(b) Using SST and a brass bar or an equivalent tool to hold the hub and bearing assembly, remove the rear axle hub bolt.

9. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB BOLT (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension)

(a) Install a washer and nut to a new rear axle hub bolt as shown in the illustration.





(b) Using a brass bar or an equivalent tool to hold the hub and bearing assembly, install the rear axle hub bolt by tightening the nut.

10. INSTALL REAR DISC (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension) Installation

11. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension)

(a) Install the rear disc brake caliper assembly with the 2 bolts.





Torque : 63 Nm (642 kgf-cm, 46 ft-lbf)

12. CONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension) Installation

13. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE LEVER PROTECTOR (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension) Installation

14. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE CABLE (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension) Adjustments

15. INSPECT REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER OPERATION LEVER AND STOPPER CLEARANCE (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension) Adjustments

16. INSTALL FRONT UPPER CONSOLE BOX (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension) Installation

17. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension)

(a) Remove the 2 bolts, and separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly.





NOTICE:
Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the brake caliper from hanging down by the flexible hose.

18. REMOVE REAR DISC (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Disassembly

19. REMOVE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Disassembly

20. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Disassembly

21. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE HOLD DOWN COMPRESSION SPRING (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Disassembly

22. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE STRUT (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Disassembly

23. SEPARATE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE HOLD DOWN COMPRESSION SPRING (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Disassembly

24. SEPARATE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Disassembly

25. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Disassembly

26. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Disassembly

27. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Disassembly

28. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB BOLT (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension)

(a) Temporarily install the 2 nuts and 2 washers to the rear axle hub bolt as shown in the illustration.





(b) Using SST and a brass bar or an equivalent tool to hold the hub and bearing assembly, remove the rear axle hub bolt.

SST : 09628-10011

29. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB BOLT (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension)

(a) Install a washer and nut to a new rear axle hub bolt as shown in the illustration.





(b) Using a brass bar or an equivalent tool to hold the hub and bearing assembly, install the rear axle hub bolt by tightening the nut.

30. APPLY HIGH TEMPERATURE GREASE (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Reassembly

31. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Reassembly

32. INSTALL NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Reassembly

33. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Reassembly

34. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Reassembly

35. INSTALL NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE HOLD DOWN COMPRESSION SPRING (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Reassembly

36. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE STRUT (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Reassembly

37. INSTALL NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE HOLD DOWN COMPRESSION SPRING (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Reassembly

38. INSTALL NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Reassembly

39. INSTALL NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Reassembly

40. CHECK PARKING BRAKE INSTALLATION (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Reassembly

41. INSTALL REAR DISC (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Reassembly

42. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension)

(a) Install the rear disc brake caliper assembly with the 2 bolts.





Torque : 59 Nm (597 kgf-cm, 43 ft-lbf)

43. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE AND PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Adjustments

44. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

Torque : 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf)
