Replacement [10/2021 - 10/2022]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, screw, 3 clips and rear engine under cover RH.

  2. DRAIN ENGINE OIL 
    1. Remove the oil filler cap sub-assembly.
    2. Remove the oil pan drain plug and gasket, and drain the engine oil into a container.
    3. Clean the oil pan drain plug.
    4. Install a new gasket to the oil pan drain plug.
    5. Install the oil pan drain plug.

      Torque: 40 N.m (408 kgf/cm, 30 ft.lbf) 

  3. REMOVE OIL FILTER CAP ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect a hose with an inside diameter of 15 mm (0.591 in.) to the pipe.

    2. Remove the oil filter drain plug from the oil filter cap assembly.

    3. Insert the pipe with hose into the oil filter cap assembly.

      *1 Oil Filter Cap Assembly

      NOTE:

      Be sure to insert the pipe with the O-ring installed to the oil filter cap assembly.

      HINT: 

      Place the hose end into a container before draining the engine oil from the hose.

    4. Make sure that the engine oil is completely drained, and remove the pipe with hose and O-ring.

      HINT: 

      Pull the pipe with hose as shown in the illustration to remove it.

    5. Using SST, remove the oil filter cap assembly.

      • SST: 09228-06502 
    6. Remove the oil filter element and O-ring from the oil filter cap assembly.

      NOTE:

      Do not use any tools to remove the O-ring in order to prevent the oil filter cap assembly from being damaged. Be sure to remove it by hand.

  4. INSTALL OIL FILTER CAP ASSEMBLY 
    1. Clean the inside of the oil filter cap assembly, the threads and O-ring groove.
    2. Apply a small amount of engine oil to a new O-ring and install it to the oil filter cap assembly.

      NOTE:
      • Be sure to install the O-ring in the proper location, otherwise engine oil may leak.
      • Do not twist the O-ring.
    3. Set a new oil filter element in the oil filter cap assembly.
    4. Remove any dirt or foreign matter from the installation surface of the engine.
    5. Apply a small amount of engine oil to the O-ring again and install the oil filter cap assembly.
      NOTE:

      Make sure that the O-ring does not get caught between the parts.

    6. Using SST, tighten the oil filter cap assembly.
      • SST: 09228-06502 

      Torque: 25 N.m (255 kgf/cm, 18 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • After tightening the oil filter cap assembly, make sure that there is no gap and that the O-ring is not protruding.
      • Do not cross thread the oil filter cap assembly.

    7. Apply a small amount of engine oil to a new O-ring and install it to the oil filter cap assembly.

      NOTE:

      Remove any dirt or foreign matter from the installation surface.

    8. Install the oil filter drain plug to the oil filter cap assembly.

      Torque: 12.5 N.m (127 kgf/cm, 9 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE:

      Make sure that the O-ring does not get caught between the parts.

  5. ADD ENGINE OIL 
    1. Add clean engine oil and install the oil filler cap sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      Do not allow engine oil to adhere to the moving parts of the belt tensioner, as this may cause malfunctions.

      If engine oil is on the location indicated by the arrow, replace the belt tensioner.

      STANDARD OIL GRADE:

      Oil Grade Oil Viscosity (SAE)
      ILSAC GF-6A multigrade engine oil 0W-20
      STANDARD OIL GRADE: (FOR MEXICO)

      Oil Grade Oil Viscosity (SAE)
      API grade SL "Energy-Conserving", SM "Energy-Conserving", SN "Resource-Conserving", SN PLUS "Resource-Conserving", or SP "Resource-Conserving", or ILSAC GF-6A multigrade engine oil
      • 0W-20
      • 5W-20
      • 5W-30
      • 10W-30
      STANDARD CAPACITY:

      Item Specified Condition
      Drain and refill with oil filter change 5.5 liters (5.8 US qts, 4.8 Imp. qts)
      Drain and refill without oil filter change 5.3 liters (5.6 US qts, 4.7 Imp. qts)
      Dry fill 6.6 liters (7.0 US qts, 5.8 Imp. qts)

  6. INSPECT FOR ENGINE OIL LEAK 
    1. Start the engine. Make sure that there are no engine oil leaks from the area that was worked on.
  7. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  8. INSTALL REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH 
    1. Install the rear engine under cover RH with the 2 bolts, screw and 3 clips.

      Bolt 

      Torque: 7.5 N.m (76 kgf/cm, 66 in.lbf)
