Replacement [10/2022 - 11/2023]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE TRANSFER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 11/2023] 

  2. REMOVE TRANSFER AND TRANSAXLE SETTING STUD BOLT 

    See step  2

  3. SECURE TRANSFER ASSEMBLY 

    See step  3

  4. INSPECT TOTAL PRELOAD 

    See step  12

  5. REMOVE OUTPUT SHAFT COMPANION FLANGE NUT 

    See step  13

  6. REMOVE TRANSFER OUTPUT SHAFT COMPANION FLANGE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    See step  14

  7. REMOVE TRANSFER CASE OIL SEAL 
    1. Using SST, remove the transfer case oil seal from the transfer assembly.

      *1 Transfer Case Oil Seal
      • SST: 09308-00010 
      NOTE:

      Do not scratch the press-fitting surface of the transfer case oil seal.

    2. Remove the spacer from the transfer assembly.

    3. Using SST, remove the rear drive pinion bearing (inner race) from the transfer assembly.

      *1 Rear Drive Pinion Bearing (Inner Race)
      • SST: 09556-40010 
    4. Remove the transfer pinion bearing spacer from the transfer assembly.

    5. Using SST, remove the rear drive pinion bearing (outer race) from the transfer assembly.

  8. INSTALL TRANSFER CASE OIL SEAL 
    1. Using SST and a press, install the rear drive pinion bearing (outer race) to the transfer assembly.

      • SST: 09506-42020 
    2. Install a new transfer pinion bearing spacer to the transfer assembly.
    3. Temporarily install the transfer output shaft companion flange sub-assembly and rear drive pinion bearing (inner race) to the transfer assembly.
    4. Using SST, install the rear drive pinion bearing (inner race).

    5. Using SST, remove the transfer output shaft companion flange sub-assembly from the transfer assembly.

    6. install the spacer to the transfer assembly.
    7. Coat the lip of a new transfer case oil seal with MP grease.
    8. Using SST and a hammer, tap in the transfer case oil seal to the transfer assembly as shown in the illustration.

      3.9 to 4.9 mm (0.154 to 0.193 in.)

      NOTE:

      Do not damage the transfer case oil seal press-fit surface.

      HINT: 

      Press using the A surface.
