Disposal [12/2019 - ]: Procedure

  1. DISPOSE OF BRAKE BOOSTER WITH ACCUMULATOR PUMP ASSEMBLY 
    1. Secure the brake booster with accumulator pump assembly in a vise as shown in the illustration.
    2. Using a drill, slowly drill a hole approximately 12 mm (0.472 in.) deep indicated by the area (A) in the illustration to discharge the gas inside.

      WARNING:

      Make sure to wear safety glasses as brake fluid and shards of metal may be ejected due to the release of pressurized gas.

      NOTE:
      • Make sure to sufficiently secure the pump or accumulator of the brake booster with accumulator pump assembly before performing this procedure.
      • Make sure to drill the hole slowly so that pressurized gas will not be released rapidly.

      HINT: 

      • Nitrogen gas, which is colorless, odorless and harmless, will be discharged.
      • The recommended drill bit diameter is 6 mm (0.236 in.) or less.
