DTC P0615-15: Starter Relay Circuit Short to Battery or Open [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (STARTER) 
    1. Read the values displayed on the GTS when the ignition switch is ON and START.

      Powertrain > Stop and Start > Data List

  2. STOP AND START SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK 
    1. Check if the stop and start system operates.

      Refer to OPERATION CHECK [12/2019 - ]

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2019 - ]

  3. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTC.

      Powertrain > Stop and Start > Clear DTCs 

      Result

    2. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 30 seconds or more.

  4. STOP AND START SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK 
    1. Check if the stop and start system operates.

      HINT: 

      Refer to OPERATION CHECK [12/2019 - ]

  5. CHECK DTC OUTPUT 
    1. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Stop and Start > Clear DTCs

    REPLACE ENGINE STOP AND START ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 11/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [11/2023 - ] 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE STOP AND START ECU - ECM - ST RELAY) 
    1. Disconnect the engine stop and start ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
    3. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    4. Remove the ST relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.
    5. Disconnect the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A83-16 (STA) - ST relay terminal 2 Always Below 1 Ω
      A34-21 (STA) - A83-16 (STA) Always Below 1 Ω
      A83-16 (STA) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A34-21 (STA) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      ST relay terminal 2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  7. INSPECT RELAY (ST RELAY) 
    1. Inspect the ST relay.

      Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [10/2022 - ]

    REPLACE RELAY (ST RELAY) 

    Result: 

    OK

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ST RELAY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Remove the ST relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      ST relay terminal 1 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ENGINE STOP AND START ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 11/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [11/2023 - ]
