DTC P2797-96: Electromagnetic Oil Pump Component Internal Failure [12/2019 - 10/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P2797-96) 
    1. Read the DTCs

      Powertrain > Stop and Start > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P2797-96 is output A
      DTCs P2797-96 and P323A-19 are output B

    Result: 

    REPLACE ENGINE STOP AND START ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2019 - 10/2022]

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE STOP AND START ECU - TRANSMISSION WIRE)

    (to Engine Stop and Start ECU)
    1. Disconnect the engine stop and start ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H66-9 (EMOP) - H66-8 (EGND) 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ENGINE STOP AND START ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2019 - 10/2022] 

    Result: 

    NG

  3. CHECK ENGINE STOP AND START ECU

    (to Engine Stop and Start ECU)
    1. Disconnect the engine stop and start ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the transmission wire connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H66-9 (EMOP) - H66-8 (EGND) Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG

  4. INSPECT OIL PUMP WITH SOLENOID ASSEMBLY 
    1. for 2WD Models:

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

    2. for AWD Models:

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

    OK 

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE 

    1. for 2WD Models:

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2019 - 10/2022]

    2. for AWD Models:

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2019 - 10/2022]

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE OIL PUMP WITH SOLENOID ASSEMBLY 

    1. for 2WD Models:

      Refer to DISASSEMBLY [12/2019 - 10/2022]

    2. for AWD Models:

      Refer to DISASSEMBLY [12/2019 - 10/2022]

  5. INSPECT ENGINE STOP AND START SOLENOID FILTER 
    1. Remove the engine stop and start solenoid filter.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Engine Stop and Start Solenoid Filter)

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2019 - 10/2022]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A36-2 (MOP+) - A36-1 (MOP-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A36-7 (MOPI) - A36-8 (GND) Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (ENGINE STOP AND START ECU - TRANSMISSION WIRE) 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE ENGINE STOP AND START SOLENOID FILTER. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2019 - 10/2022]
