DTC C2198: Initialization Switch Error (for Test Diagnosis) [12/2019 - 10/2022]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the steering pad switch assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2019 - 10/2022]

    2. Inspect the steering pad switch assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [12/2019 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2019 - 10/2022] 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2019 - 10/2022]

    2. Inspect the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [12/2019 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2019 - 10/2022] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the H24 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the H21 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H24-10 (+DP2) - H21-28 (MSM+) Always Below 1 Ω
      H24-10 (+DP2) or H21-28 (MSM+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H24-11 (+DP) - H21-29 (MSTI) Always Below 1 Ω
      H24-11 (+DP) or H21-29 (MSTI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY - TIRE PRESSURE WARNING ECU AND RECEIVER) 
    1. Disconnect the M51 tire pressure warning ECU and receiver connector.
    2. Disconnect the H21 combination meter assembly connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      M51-3 (CLSW) - H21-4 (INT) Always Below 1 Ω
      M51-3 (CLSW) or H21-4 (INT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H21-21 (ES) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (INT) 
    1. Connect the M51 tire pressure warning ECU and receiver connector.
    2. Disconnect the H21 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H21-4 (INT) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 8 to 15 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    GO TO METER / GAUGE SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2019 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING ECU AND RECEIVER. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2019 - 11/2023]
