DTC C050C-23: Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Signal Stuck Low [10/2022 - 11/2023]: Procedure

  1. CHECK VEHICLE SPECIFICATION 
    1. Check the vehicle specification.

  2. CHECK REAR SKID CONTROL SENSOR LH INSTALLATION 
    1. Check the rear skid control sensor LH installation.

      *1 Rear Skid Control Sensor LH
      *a Correct
      *b Incorrect
      *c 8.5 N.m (87 kgf/cm, 75 in.lbf)
      *d No clearance

      OK

      There is no clearance between the rear skid control sensor LH and the rear axle carrier LH.

      The installation bolt is tightened properly.

      Torque 

      8.5 N.m (87 kgf/cm, 75 in.lbf)

    REINSTALL OR REPLACE REAR SKID CONTROL SENSOR LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2019 - ]

  3. CHECK REAR SKID CONTROL SENSOR LH (CHECK FOR FOREIGN MATTER) 
    1. Remove the rear skid control sensor LH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2019 - ]

    2. Check the rear skid control sensor tip LH.

      OK

      The rear skid control sensor tip LH is free of scratches, oil, and foreign matter.

      NOTE:
      • If there is oil or foreign matter on the rear skid control sensor LH, clean the rear skid control sensor LH.
      • If the rear skid control sensor LH is damaged, replace the rear skid control sensor LH with a new one.

    CLEAN OR REPLACE REAR SKID CONTROL SENSOR LH

  4. READ VALUE USING GTS (RL WHEEL SPEED) 
    1. Start the engine.

    3. Check the rear skid control sensor LH output value.

  5. INSPECT NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    3. Disconnect the u4 and uM2 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Front view of skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly)

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A39 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      uM2-3 (RL+) - A39-5 (RL+) Always Below 1 Ω

  7. CHECK REAR SPEED SENSOR ROTOR LH (CHECK FOR FOREIGN MATTER) 
    1. Remove the component with the rear speed sensor rotor LH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 11/2023]

    2. Check the rear speed sensor rotor LH.

      OK

      The rear speed sensor rotor LH is free of scratches, oil, and foreign matter.

      NOTE:
      • If there is oil or foreign matter on the rear speed sensor rotor LH, clean the rear speed sensor rotor LH.
      • Do not use parts cleaner when cleaning the rear speed sensor rotor LH.
      • If the rear speed sensor rotor LH is damaged, replace the rear speed sensor rotor LH with a new one.

      HINT: 

      • The rear speed sensor rotor LH is incorporated into the rear axle hub and bearing assembly LH.
      • If the rear speed sensor rotor LH needs to be replaced, replace it together with the rear axle hub and bearing assembly LH.

      There is no clearance between the rear speed sensor LH and the rear axle hub and bearing assembly LH.

      HINT: 

      Because the rear axle hub and bearing assembly LH cannot be disassembled, if the rear speed sensor LH needs replacement, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly LH.
