DTC P2111-72: Throttle Actuator "A" Control System Actuator Stuck Open; DTC P2111-73: Throttle Actuator "A" Control System Actuator Stuck Closed [10/2022 - 11/2023]: Procedure

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P2111-72 OR P2111-73) 
    1. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P2111-72 or P2111-73 is output A
      DTC P2111-72 or P2111-73 and other DTCs are output B

      HINT: 

      If any DTCs other than P2111-72 or P2111-73 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART  . Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2022 - 11/2023]

  2. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY (VISUALLY CHECK THROTTLE VALVE) 
    1. Check for foreign matter between the throttle valve and housing. If necessary, clean the throttle body with motor assembly. Also check that the throttle valve moves smoothly.

      OK

      Throttle valve is not contaminated with foreign matter and moves smoothly.

      HINT: 

      Perform "Inspection After Repair" after cleaning the throttle body with motor assembly.

      Refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2021 - ]

  3. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Clear DTCs 

    2. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

  4. READ VALUE USING GTS (THROTTLE POSITION) 
    1. Read the values displayed on the GTS while wiggling the ECM wire harness.

      Powertrain > Engine > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Throttle Position Sensor No. 1 Voltage
      Throttle Position Sensor No. 2 Voltage
      Throttle Position Command
    2. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Value in Data List changes when wire harness is wiggled, or DTC is output A

  5. REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. As the DTC was stored due to a change in the contact resistance of the connector, repair or replace the wire harness or connector.

      Refer to ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE [12/2019 - ]

  6. REPLACE THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2020 - ]

    HINT: 

    Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the throttle body with motor assembly.

  8. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P2111-72 OR P2111-73) 
    1. Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in Confirmation Driving Pattern.
    2. Read the DTCs.
