On-Vehicle Inspection [12/2019 - ]: Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. INSPECT HYBRID TRANSAXLE FLUID
    1. Lift the vehicle.
      NOTE:

Set the vehicle on a lift so that the vehicle is kept level when it is lifted up (make sure that the tilt angle from the front to rear of the vehicle is within +/- 1°).

    2. Using a 10 mm union nut wrench and 10 mm straight hexagon, remove the filler plug and gasket from the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly.

    3. Check that the hybrid transaxle fluid level is between 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.196 in.) from the bottom lip of the filler plug opening.

      *a 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.196 in.)
      NOTE:
      • When inspecting the hybrid transaxle fluid, make sure that the vehicle is level.
      • Be sure to directly check that the hybrid transaxle fluid level is within the specified range.
      • Driving the vehicle with an insufficient or excessive amount of hybrid transaxle fluid may damage the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly.
      • If the hybrid transaxle fluid was replaced or if hybrid transaxle fluid was added, make sure to recheck the hybrid transaxle fluid level after driving the vehicle.
    4. Check for leaks if the hybrid transaxle fluid level is low. (If there are no hybrid transaxle fluid leaks but the hybrid transaxle fluid level is low, add hybrid transaxle fluid.)

      See step  2

    5. Using a 10 mm union nut wrench and 10 mm straight hexagon, install the filler plug and a new gasket to the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly.

*a 10 mm Union Nut Wrench
      *b 10 mm Straight Hexagon
      *c Torque Wrench Fulcrum Length

      Specified Tightening Torque

      Torque: 39 N.m (398 kgf/cm, 29 ft.lbf)

      HINT:

      • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

        Refer to PRECAUTION [12/2019 - 11/2023] , or refer to PRECAUTION [11/2023 - ]

      • When using a 10 mm union nut wrench (fulcrum length of 22 mm (0.866 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 180 mm (7.09 in.)):

        34.7 N.m (354 kgf/cm, 26 ft.lbf)

  2. INSPECT FOR HYBRID TRANSAXLE FLUID LEAK
