DTC B0098-87: Right Side Restraints Sensor 3 Missing Message [11/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

      Procedure1

    2. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      B0098-87 and B009E-87 are output A
      B0098-87 is output B
      B0098-87 and B009E-87 are not output C

      Post-procedure1

    REPLACE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2023 - ]

  2. CLEAR DTC 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    3. Disconnect the side airbag sensor assembly RH connector.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

      Procedure1

    6. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs 

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

      Post-procedure1

    7. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    NEXT

  3. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

      Procedure1

    2. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      B0098-87 and B009E-87 are output A
      B0098-87 is output B

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTCs B0098-87 and B009E-87 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

      Post-procedure1

    3. Turn the ignition switch off.
    4. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    5. Connect the side airbag sensor assembly RH connector.

    Result:

    REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2023 - ]

  4. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS 
    1. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag sensor assembly, rear airbag sensor RH and side airbag sensor assembly RH.

    3. Interchange the rear airbag sensor RH with LH and connect the connectors to them.

    5. Return the rear airbag sensor LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.
