DTC B009E-87: Right Side Restraints Sensor 5 Missing Message [11/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

      Procedure1

    2. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      B0098-87 and B009E-87 are output A
      B009E-87 is output B
      B0098-87 and B009E-87 are not output C

      Post-procedure1

    3. None

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC B0098-87. Refer to  DTC B0098-87: Right Side Restraints Sensor 3 Missing Message [11/2023 - ]  

    Result: 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2019 - ]

  2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

      Procedure1

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the rear airbag sensor RH and side airbag sensor assembly RH.

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

      Post-procedure1

    4. None

    Result: 

    NG 

    CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CHECK FOR OPEN IN THE CIRCUIT) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Disconnect the rear airbag sensor RH connector.

      *1 Side Airbag Sensor Assembly RH
      *2 Rear Airbag Sensor RH
      *3 Wire Harness
      *4 Service Wire
      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Rear Airbag Sensor RH)
      *b Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Side Airbag Sensor Assembly RH)
    2. Disconnect the side airbag sensor assembly RH connector.
    3. Using a service wire, connect terminals 2 (BDR+) and 1 (BDR-) of connector C.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting a service wire.

      Procedure1

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      M11-1 (BDR+) - M11-2 (BDR-) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

      Post-procedure1

    5. Disconnect the service wire from connector C.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CLEAR DTC 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Connect the rear airbag sensor RH connector.

      *1 Side Airbag Sensor Assembly LH
      *2 Rear Airbag Sensor RH
      *3 Wire Harness
    2. Interchange the side airbag sensor assembly RH with LH and connect the connectors to them.
    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

      Procedure1

    5. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs 

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

      Post-procedure1

    6. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    NEXT

  5. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

      Procedure1

    2. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      B009E-87 is output A
      B009B-87 is output B
      B009B-87 and B009E-87 are not output C

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTCs B009B-87 and B009E-87 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

      Post-procedure1

    3. Turn the ignition switch off.
    4. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    5. Return the side airbag sensor assembly LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

    Result: 

    REPLACE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2023 - ] 

    Result:
