DTC C05E0-1C: 4WD/AWD Clutch "A" Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Circuit Voltage Out of Range [12/2019 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT No. 1 4 WHEEL DRIVE POSITION SWITCH 
    1. Remove the No. 1 4 wheel drive position switch.

      Refer to DISASSEMBLY [12/2019 - 10/2022] , or refer to DISASSEMBLY [10/2022 - ]

    2. Connect 3 1.5 V dry batteries in series.
    3. Connect a positive (+) lead from the batteries to terminal 1 (TVCF) and a negative (-) lead to terminal 3 (TEF).

      *a Dry Batteries
      *b Component without harness connected
      (No. 1 4 Wheel Drive Position Switch)
      *c Piece of Metal
    4. Move a piece of metal close to the edge of the No. 1 4 wheel drive position switch, and then move it away and check that the resistance changes.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (TNF) - 3 (TEF) Low (Move piece of metal away) 150 to 620 Ω
      2 (TNF) - 3 (TEF) High (Move piece of metal closer) 1.1 to 6.2 kΩ

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE NO. 1 4 WHEEL DRIVE POSITION SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2019 - 10/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 11/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [11/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (4WD ECU ASSEMBLY - No. 1 4 WHEEL DRIVE POSITION SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the M41 4WD ECU assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the s9 No. 1 4 wheel drive position switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      M41-3 (TNF) - s9-2 (TNF) Always Below 1 Ω
      M41-11 (TVCF) - s9-1 (TVCF) Always Below 1 Ω
      M41-18 (TEF) - s9-3 (TEF) Always Below 1 Ω
      M41-3 (TNF) or s9-2 (TNF) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      M41-11 (TVCF) or s9-1 (TVCF) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      M41-18 (TEF) or s9-3 (TEF) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      M41-18 (TEF) or s9-3 (TEF) - Body ground Always Below 1 V

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE 4WD ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2019 - ] 

    Result:

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
