DTC C13E9-1C: 4WD/AWD Left Range Actuator Control Circuit Performance Circuit Voltage Out of Range [12/2019 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (4WD ECU ASSEMBLY - REAR 4WD LINEAR SOLENOID LH (ELECTRO MAGNETIC CONTROL COUPLING SUB-ASSEMBLY LH)) 
    1. Disconnect the M42 4WD ECU assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      M42-4 (WJSL) - M42-3 (WJRL) 20°C (68°F) 2.2 to 2.6 Ω
      M42-4 (WJSL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      M42-3 (WJRL) - Body ground Always Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE 4WD ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2019 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (4WD ECU ASSEMBLY - REAR 4WD LINEAR SOLENOID LH (ELECTRO MAGNETIC CONTROL COUPLING SUB-ASSEMBLY LH)) 
    1. Disconnect the M42 4WD ECU assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the s3 rear 4WD linear solenoid LH (electro magnetic control coupling sub-assembly LH) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      M42-4 (WJSL) - s3-1 (WJSL) Always Below 1 Ω
      M42-3 (WJRL) - s3-2 (WJRL) Always Below 1 Ω
      M42-4 (WJSL) or s3-1 (WJSL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      M42-3 (WJRL) or s3-2 (WJRL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      M42-4 (WJSL) or s3-1 (WJSL) - M42-3 (WJRL) or s3-2 (WJRL) Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      M42-3 (WJRL) or s3-2 (WJRL) - Body ground Always Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. INSPECT REAR 4WD LINEAR SOLENOID LH (ELECTRO MAGNETIC CONTROL COUPLING SUB-ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Disconnect the s3 rear 4WD linear solenoid LH (electro magnetic control coupling sub-assembly LH) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      s3-1 (WJSL) - s3-2 (WJRL) 20°C (68°F) 2.2 to 2.6 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    CHECK INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2019 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE ELECTRO MAGNETIC CONTROL COUPLING SUB-ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [12/2019 - ]
