DTC P0710-11: Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit Short To Ground [12/2019 - 10/2022]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING GTS
    1. Warm up the engine.
    2. Read the Data List according to the display on the GTS.

Powertrain > Transmission > Data List

Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
A/T Oil Temperature No. 1 ATF temperature sensor value Min.: -40°C (-40°F)
      Max.: 150°C (302°F)
      • Approximately 80°C (176°F): After stall speed test
      • Equal to ambient temperature: When engine is cold
If value is -40°C (-40°F) or 150°C (302°F), ATF temperature sensor circuit is open or shorted

Powertrain > Transmission > Data List

      Tester Display
      A/T Oil Temperature No. 1

      Result

      Result Proceed to
Data List value is normal A
Data List value is not normal B

    Result:

    See step  3

    Result:

    See step  2

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR - ECM)
    1. Disconnect the C54 ECM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C54-86 (THO1) - C54-133 (ETHW) Always 79 Ω to 156 kΩ
C54-133 (ETHW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
C54-86 (THO1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      HINT:

If the resistance is out of the specified range at any of the ATF temperatures shown in the table below, the driveability of the vehicle may decrease.

      ATF Temperature Specified Condition
      10°C (50°F) 5 to 8 kΩ
      25°C (77°F) 2.5 to 4.5 kΩ
      110°C (230°F) 0.22 to 0.28 kΩ

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

    NG

    See step  4

    Result:

    OK

    See step  3

  3. REPLACE ECM
    1. Replace the ECM.

      Refer to COMPONENTS [12/2019 - 10/2022]

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

    Result:

    NEXT

PERFORM REGISTRATION. Refer to  REGISTRATION [12/2019 - 10/2022]

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE - ECM)
    1. Disconnect the C51 transmission wire connector.
    2. Disconnect the C54 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C51-1 (OT+) or C54-86 (THO1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
C51-2 (OT-) or C54-133 (ETHW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

    OK

REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE (ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR). Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2019 - 10/2022]

    Result:

    NG

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE - ECM)
