Initialization [12/2019 - ]

  1. INITIALIZE PANORAMIC MOON ROOF SYSTEM (FOR SLIDING ROOF)
    NOTE:
    • Before starting this operation, make sure that the guide rails are not deformed and there is no foreign matter on the guide rails.
    • When the sliding roof glass sub-assembly or sliding roof drive cable sub-assembly is adjusted or removed/installed, or the sliding roof ECU (sliding roof drive gear assembly) is replaced, the sliding roof ECU (sliding roof drive gear assembly) must be initialized. If initialization is not performed, the auto operation function, jam protection function, key-off operation function and sliding roof open warning function may not operate, or the sliding roof may move in reverse or become misaligned.
    • During initialization, do not apply a physical shock, such as opening/closing a door or driving the vehicle at 5 km/h (3 mph) or more, to the vehicle and do not perform any electrical operations.
    • Make sure not to turn the ignition switch to ACC or off during initialization.
    • If the sliding roof ECU (sliding roof drive gear assembly) is replaced, DTC B2343 is stored. Clear the DTC after initialization.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2019 - ]

    HINT:

    • The sliding roof switch is built into the map light assembly.
    • If the battery has been replaced, it is not necessary to initialize the sliding roof ECU (sliding roof drive gear assembly).
    • If both of the sliding roof ECU (sliding roof drive gear assembly) and roof sunshade ECU (sliding roof drive gear assembly) are not initialized, initialize the sliding roof ECU (sliding roof drive gear assembly) first.
    1. Perform initialization according to the table below.
Condition of Sliding Roof Proceed to
Auto slide open and close/tilt up functions do not operate. Procedure A
Auto operation function operates, but the sliding roof glass does not stop at the correct position (misalignment occurs). Procedure B
Auto operation function operates, but the sliding roof glass moves in the reverse direction during slide close operation, or the sliding roof glass moves in the reverse direction during tilt down operation. Procedure C
      1. Procedure A
        1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
        2. Slide backward and hold the sliding roof switch until the following operation completes.

The sliding roof glass moves in the following order: starts opening → stops at the fully open position → starts closing* → stops at the correct fully open position (completion of initialization).

          NOTE:

If the sliding roof switch is released before initialization completes, slide backward and hold the switch again until this operation completes.

          HINT:

*: The closing operation may not be noticeable as the closing distance is quite short.

        3. Confirm that the sliding roof glass auto operation function operates normally.
      2. Procedure B
        1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
        2. Slide backward and hold the sliding roof switch for 0.3 seconds or more to start the sliding roof glass auto operation function.
        3. Wait until the auto operation completes, and slide backward and hold the sliding roof switch until the following operation completes.

The sliding roof glass moves in the following order: pauses approximately 10 seconds*1 → starts opening → stops at the fully opened position → starts closing*2 → stops at the correct fully opened position (completion of initialization).

          NOTE:

If the sliding roof switch is released before initialization completes, turn the ignition switch to off and perform procedure B again.

          HINT:

          • *1: If the sliding roof glass does not start opening after pausing for approximately 10 seconds, release and slide backward the sliding roof switch until this operation completes.
          • *2: The closing operation may not be noticeable as the closing distance is quite short.
        4. Confirm that the sliding roof glass auto operation function operates normally.
      3. Procedure C
        1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
        2. Slide forward and hold the sliding roof switch for 10 seconds or more to fully close the sliding roof glass.
        3. Slide backward and hold the sliding roof switch for 0.3 seconds or more to start the sliding roof glass auto operation function.

        5. Confirm that the sliding roof glass auto operation function operates normally.
  2. INITIALIZE PANORAMIC MOON ROOF SYSTEM (FOR ROOF SUNSHADE)
    NOTE:
    • When the roof sunshade ECU (sliding roof drive gear assembly) or sliding roof housing sub-assembly is replaced or removed and installed, the roof sunshade ECU (sliding roof drive gear assembly) must be initialized (pulse sensor initial position setting), as the roof sunshade position cannot be determined. If initialization is not performed, the auto operation function and jam protection function may not operate, or the roof sunshade may move in reverse or become misaligned.
    • During initialization, do not apply a physical shock, such as opening/closing a door or driving the vehicle at 5 km/h (3 mph) or more, to the vehicle and do not perform any electrical operations.
    • Make sure not to turn the ignition switch to ACC or off during initialization.
    • If the roof sunshade ECU (sliding roof drive gear assembly) is replaced, DTC B2343 is stored. Clear the DTC after initialization.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2019 - ]

    HINT:

    • The roof sunshade switch is built into the map light assembly.
    • If the battery has been replaced, it is not necessary to initialize the roof sunshade ECU (sliding roof drive gear assembly).
Condition of Roof Sunshade Proceed to
Auto operation function does not operate. Procedure A
Auto operation function operates, but the roof sunshade does not stop at the correct fully closed position. Procedure B
Auto operation function operates, but the roof sunshade erroneously reverses operation while closed. Procedure B
      1. Procedure A
        1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
        2. Slide backward and hold the roof sunshade switch until the following operation completes.

The roof sunshade moves in the following order: starts opening → stops at the fully open position → starts closing* → stops at the correct fully open position (completion of initialization).

          NOTE:

If the roof sunshade open switch is released before initialization completes, backward and hold the switch again until this operation completes.

          HINT:

*: The closing operation may not be noticeable as the closing distance is quite short.

        3. Confirm that the roof sunshade auto operation function operates normally.
      2. Procedure B
        1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
        2. Slide backward and hold the roof sunshade switch for 0.3 seconds or more to start the roof sunshade auto operation function.
        3. Wait until the auto operation completes, and slide backward and hold the roof sunshade open switch until the following operation completes.

The roof sunshade moves in the following order: pauses approximately 10 seconds*1 → starts opening → stops at the fully opened position → starts closing*2 → stops at the correct fully opened position (completion of initialization).

          NOTE:

If the roof sunshade open switch is released before the initialization completes, turn the ignition switch to off and perform procedure B again.

          HINT:

          • *1: If the roof sunshade does not start opening after pausing for approximately 10 seconds, release and slide backward the roof sunshade switch until this operation completes.
          • *2: The closing operation may not be noticeable as the closing distance is quite short.
        4. Confirm that the roof sunshade auto operation function operates normally.
