Fuel Lid Opener System Operation Message Display Malfunction [12/2019 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (OUTPUT VOLTAGE)

    *a Front view of wire harness connector
    (to ECM)
    1. Disconnect the A27 ECM connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A27-41 (LSTM) - Body ground Ignition switch off 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG

  2. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (INPUT WAVEFORM)

    *a Component with harness connected
    (Combination Meter Assembly)
    1. Connect the ECM connector.
    2. Remove the combination meter assembly with the connector(s) still connected.
    3. Operate the fuel lid opener switch.
    4. Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below.
      1. Waveform 1:
        Item Condition
        Tester Connection H21-34 (LST1) - Body ground
        Tool setting 5 V/DIV., 20 ms./DIV.
        Condition The following message (interrupt display) being displayed on the multi-information display:
        1. Ready to Refuel

      2. Waveform 2:
        Item Condition
        Tester Connection H21-34 (LST1) - Body ground
        Tool setting 5 V/DIV., 20 ms./DIV.
        Condition The following message (interrupt display) being displayed on the multi-information display:
        1. Close Fuel Lid

        HINT: 

        This waveform is output when the fuel lid opener switch is operated if the fuel lid is open and any of the following conditions are met:

        • The vehicle has been driven for 1 km (0.6 mile) or more at a speed of 50 km/h (31 mph) or more.
        • 30 minutes or more have elapsed since the fuel lid opener switch was operated.
      3. Waveform 3:
        Item Condition
        Tester Connection H21-34 (LST1) - Body ground
        Tool setting 5 V/DIV., 20 ms./DIV.
        Condition The following message (interrupt display) being displayed on the multi-information display:
        1. Please Wait Fuel Door Opening

        HINT: 

        This waveform is output when the internal pressure of the fuel tank is higher than the ambient pressure when the fuel lid opener switch is operated.

      OK

      All of the waveforms are output normally.

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2019 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2019 - 10/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 11/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [11/2023 - ] 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the H21 combination meter assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A27-41 (LSTM) - H21-34 (LST1) Always Below 1 Ω
      A27-41 (LSTM) or H21-34 (LST1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2019 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
