DTC C1686: Driver Side Camera Video Sync Signal Malfunction [12/2019 - 10/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Chassis > Circumference Monitoring Camera Control Module > Clear DTCs 

    2. Check for DTCs.

      Chassis > Circumference Monitoring Camera Control Module > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      DTC C1686 is not output.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2019 - ]

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARKING ASSIST ECU - OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Disconnect the H19 parking assist ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the J29 outer rear view mirror assembly LH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H19-12 (LCB+) - J29-3 (LCB+) Always Below 1 Ω
      H19-10 (LCV+) - J29-5 (LCV+) Always Below 1 Ω
      H19-34 (LCV-) - J29-4 (LCV-) Always Below 1 Ω
      H19-35 (LGND) - J29-2 (LGND) Always Below 1 Ω
      H19-11 (SGND) - J29-1 (SGND) Always Below 1 Ω
      H19-12 (LCB+) or J29-3 (LCB+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H19-10 (LCV+) or J29-5 (LCV+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H19-34 (LCV-) or J29-4 (LCV-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H19-35 (LGND) or J29-2 (LGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H19-11 (SGND) or J29-1 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  4. CHECK PARKING ASSIST ECU (LCB+, LGND) 
    1. Remove the parking assist ECU with the connector still connected.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      H19-12 (LCB+) - H19-35 (LGND) Ignition switch ON 5.5 to 7.05 V
      H19-12 (LCB+) - H19-35 (LGND) Ignition switch off Below 1 V

  5. CHECK SIDE TELEVISION CAMERA ASSEMBLY LH (LCV+, LGND) 
    1. Remove the parking assist ECU with the connector still connected.
    2. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform of the side television camera assembly LH.

      HINT: 

      A waterproof connector is used for the side television camera assembly LH. Therefore, inspect the waveform at the parking assist ECU with the connector connected.

      HINT: 

      • The video waveform changes according to the image sent by the side television camera assembly LH.
      • The video waveform is constantly output when the ignition switch is turned to ACC.

    1. Disconnect the outer rear view mirror assembly LH connector.

    2. Disconnect the side television camera assembly LH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      A-1 (CB+) - J29-3 (LCB+) Always Below 1 Ω
      A-3 (CV+) - J29-5 (LCV+) Always Below 1 Ω
      A-7 (CV-) - J29-4 (LCV-) Always Below 1 Ω
