Power Back Door cannot be Operated Using Kick Sensor [11/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK VEHICLE CONDITION 
    1. Operate the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly and check the customization status.
      Display Description Default Setting Relevant ECU
      System Settings Function that enables/disables the power back door. ON OFF / ON Multiplex network door ECU
      Hands Free Function that enables/disables the hands free power back door ON OFF / ON Multiplex network door ECU

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Customization item is "ON" A
      Customization item is "OFF" B

    Result: 

    PERFORM CUSTOMIZE SETTING. Refer to  CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [11/2023 - ]

  2. CHECK POWER BACK DOOR SYSTEM 
    1. Check the power back door system.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Power back door system operates normally A
      Power back door system does not operate normally B

    Result: 

    GO TO POWER BACK DOOR CANNOT BE OPERATED FREQUENTLY. Refer to  Power Back Door cannot be Operated Frequently [11/2023 - ]

  3. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Back Door > Clear DTCs 

      Result

      NEXT

  4. REPRODUCE DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for at least 10 seconds.

      Result

      Proceed to

  5. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Back Door > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is output A
      DTC is not output B

    Result: 

    GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2023 - ]

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (KICK DOOR CONTROL SENSOR - AUXILIARY BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the V7*1 or V8*2 kick door control sensor connector.
      1. *1: w/o Option Connector (Trailer Towing)
      2. *2: w/ Option Connector (Trailer Towing)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      W/O OPTION CONNECTOR (TRAILER TOWING)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      V7-7 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      W/ OPTION CONNECTOR (TRAILER TOWING)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      V8-7 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      W/O OPTION CONNECTOR (TRAILER TOWING)

      V7-2 (B) - Body ground Ignition switch off 11 to 14 V
      W/ OPTION CONNECTOR (TRAILER TOWING)

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (KICK DOOR CONTROL SENSOR - MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the W30 multiplex network door ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      W/O OPTION CONNECTOR (TRAILER TOWING)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      V7-3 (KSOT) - W30-12 (KSIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      V7-3 (KSOT) or W30-12 (KSIN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      W/ OPTION CONNECTOR (TRAILER TOWING)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      V8-3 (KSOT) - W30-12 (KSIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      V8-3 (KSOT) or W30-12 (KSIN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  8. REPLACE KICK DOOR CONTROL SENSOR 
    1. Temporarily replace the kick door control sensor with a new or normally functioning one.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2023 - ]

  9. CHECK POWER BACK DOOR SYSTEM CONDITION 
    1. Check that the power back door system functions normally in response to kick sensor operation.
