Replacement [12/2019 - 10/2022]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL OPENING EXTENSION PAD LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [12/2019 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [09/2020 - 10/2022]

  2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL OPENING EXTENSION PAD RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [12/2019 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [09/2020 - 10/2022]

  3. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [12/2019 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [09/2020 - 10/2022]

  4. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [12/2019 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [09/2020 - 10/2022]

  5. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15 [12/2019 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15 [09/2020 - 10/2022]

  6. REPLACE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID 
    1. Lift the vehicle. [#1]
      NOTE:

      Set the vehicle on a lift so that the vehicle is kept level when it is lifted up (make sure the tilt angle from the front to rear and side to side of the vehicle is within +/- 1°).

    2. Remove the refill plug and gasket from the automatic transaxle case sub-assembly. [#2]

    3. Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the overflow plug and gasket from the transaxle housing. [#3]

    4. Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the No. 1 transmission oil filler tube from the transaxle housing and drain the automatic transaxle fluid. [#4]

    5. Measure the amount of automatic transaxle fluid drained. [#5]

      HINT: 

      Add the same amount of automatic transaxle fluid in step [#8].

    6. Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, install the No. 1 transmission oil filler tube to the transaxle housing. [#6]

      Torque: 1.7 N.m (17 kgf/cm, 15 in.lbf) 

    7. Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, temporarily install the gasket and overflow plug to the transaxle housing. [#7]

      HINT: 

      Reuse the old gasket as the overflow plug will be removed again to adjust the automatic transaxle fluid level.

    8. Add automatic transaxle fluid to the refill hole using the same amount of automatic transaxle fluid drained in step [#5]. [#8]

      NOTE:

      Use Toyota Genuine ATF WS.

      Using automatic transaxle fluid other than the above type may cause abnormal noise or vibration, or damage the transaxle of the vehicle.

    9. Temporarily install the gasket and refill plug to avoid automatic transaxle fluid spillage. [#9]

      HINT: 

      Reuse the old gasket as the refill plug will be removed again to adjust the automatic transaxle fluid level.

    10. Lower the vehicle. [#10]
    11. Start the engine. [#11]
    12. Slowly move the shift lever from P to D, and then back to P. [#12]

      HINT: 

      • Slowly move the shift lever to circulate the automatic transaxle fluid through each part of the automatic transaxle assembly.
      • Keep the shift lever in each position for approximately 3 seconds.
    13. Allow the engine to idle for 30 seconds to warm it up. [#13]
    14. Turn the ignition switch off. [#14]
    15. Repeat steps [#1] to [#14].
    16. Repeat steps [#1] to [#10].
  7. ADD SPECIFIED AMOUNT OF AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  8. ADJUST AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID TEMPERATURE (when Using the GTS) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  9. ADJUST AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID TEMPERATURE (when Not Using the GTS) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  10. ADJUST AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID LEVEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  11. PERFORM ATF THERMAL DEGRADATION ESTIMATE RESET 
    NOTE:

    If approximately 50% or more of the ATF has been replaced during a repair of the transaxle or a similar operation, perform ATF Thermal Degradation Estimate Reset.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [12/2019 - 10/2022]

  12. REBUILD WORK 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  13. INSTALL FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 74 [12/2019 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 74 [09/2020 - 10/2022]

  14. INSTALL REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 79 [12/2019 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 79 [09/2020 - 10/2022]

  15. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 80 [12/2019 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 80 [09/2020 - 10/2022]

  16. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL OPENING EXTENSION PAD LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 81 [12/2019 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 81 [09/2020 - 10/2022]

  17. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL OPENING EXTENSION PAD RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 82 [12/2019 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 82 [09/2020 - 10/2022]
