Removal [10/2022 - 11/2023]: Procedure

  1. DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL (for HV Model) 
    1. Wait 4 minutes after turning the ignition switch off to ensure that the skid control ECU is in sleep mode.
      NOTE:

      When the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switch is turned on even if the ignition switch is off, the brake control system activates. Therefore do not depress the brake pedal or open/close the doors until the reservoir level switch connector is disconnected.

    2. Disengage the clamp to separate the wire harness from the brake master cylinder reservoir assembly.

    3. Remove the bolt and nut and separate the brake master cylinder reservoir assembly.
    4. Disconnect the connector from the brake master cylinder reservoir assembly

    5. Return the brake master cylinder reservoir assembly to its original position.

      HINT: 

      Do this to prevent brake fluid leakage.

    6. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 11/2023]

    7. In order to prevent pressurized brake fluid in the accumulator from being applied to the brake calipers, depress the brake pedal 40 times or more to return the pressurized brake fluid in the accumulator back to the brake master cylinder reservoir assembly.
    8. Check that the brake pedal cannot be further depressed.
  2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  3. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID 
    NOTE:

    If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, immediately wash it off.

  4. DISCONNECT FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE 
    1. Remove the union bolt and gasket, and disconnect the front flexible hose from the front disc brake cylinder assembly.

  5. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Hold the 2 front disc brake cylinder slide pins and remove the 2 bolts and front disc brake cylinder assembly.

      *b Hold
  6. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD 
    1. Remove the 2 anti-squeal springs.

    2. Remove the 2 front disc brake pads from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  7. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  8. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE 
    1. Remove the 4 front disc brake pad support plates from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

      NOTE:

      Each front disc brake pad support plate has a different shape. Be sure to put an identification mark on each front disc brake pad support plate so that it can be reinstalled to its original position.

  9. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN 
    1. Remove the 2 front disc brake cylinder slide pins from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

    2. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, remove the front disc brake cylinder slide bushing from the front disc brake cylinder slide pin (lower side).
      NOTE:

      Do not damage the front disc brake cylinder slide pin.

  10. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE BUSHING DUST BOOT 
    1. Remove the 2 front disc brake bushing dust boots from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  11. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and front disc brake cylinder mounting from the steering knuckle.

  12. REMOVE FRONT DISC 
    1. Put matchmarks on the front disc and the front axle hub sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the front disc.
