Reassembly [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL REAR BUMPER REINFORCEMENT 

    HINT: 

    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the rear bumper reinforcement is necessary.

    1. Install the rear bumper reinforcement with the 6 nuts.

      Torque: 43 N.m (438 kgf/cm, 32 ft.lbf) 

  2. INSTALL RECEIVER HITCH BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Towing Hitch) 
    1. Install the receiver hitch bracket sub-assembly with the 12 bolts and 2 nuts.

      Bolt: 

      Torque: 80 N.m (816 kgf/cm, 59 ft.lbf) 

      Nut: 

      Torque: 80 N.m (816 kgf/cm, 59 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE:

      Because the receiver hitch bracket sub-assembly is very heavy, it may cause injury or fall resulting in damage to the vehicle body when it is being handled. During removal or installation, make sure that there are enough people available to hold the hitch bracket securely.

  3. INSTALL RECEIVER HITCH BRACKET LH (w/ Towing Hitch) 
    1. Install the receiver hitch bracket LH with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 80 N.m (816 kgf/cm, 59 ft.lbf)

  4. INSTALL RECEIVER HITCH BRACKET RH (w/ Towing Hitch) 
    1. Install the receiver hitch bracket RH with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 80 N.m (816 kgf/cm, 59 ft.lbf)

  5. INSTALL RECEIVER HITCH CAP (w/ Towing Hitch) 
    1. Install the receiver hitch cap.
  6. INSTALL TOWING SOCKET (w/ Towing Hitch) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  7. INSTALL NO. 2 LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT SIDE COVER PROTECTOR (w/ Towing Hitch) 
    1. Install the No. 2 luggage compartment side cover protector with the 2 clips.

  8. INSTALL NO. 1 LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT SIDE COVER PROTECTOR (w/ Towing Hitch) 
    1. Install the No. 1 luggage compartment side cover protector.
  9. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE SEAL LH 

    HINT: 

    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the rear bumper side seal LH is necessary.

    1. Install the nut and clip.

    2. Install the rear bumper side seal LH with the screw and clip.

  10. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE SEAL RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  11. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT LH 

    HINT: 

    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the rear bumper side support LH is necessary.

    1. Engage the 2 claws.

    2. Engage the 3 clips as shown in the illustration to install the rear bumper side support LH.

  12. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  13. INSTALL REAR BUMPER UPPER RETAINER LH 
    1. Engage the 2 guides to install the rear bumper upper retainer LH to the rear combination light assembly LH.

  14. INSTALL REAR BUMPER UPPER RETAINER RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  15. INSTALL REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Connect the 3 connectors.

    2. Engage the 3 clamps.
    3. Engage the guide and pin.

    4. Install the rear combination light assembly LH with the 3 screws.
  16. INSTALL REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  17. INSTALL REAR BUMPER PAD LH 

    HINT: 

    When installing the rear bumper pad LH, heat the rear bumper cover using a heat light.

    Heating Temperature

    Item Temperature
    Rear Bumper Cover 20 to 30 °C (68 to 86 °F)
    WARNING:
    • Do not touch the heat light and heated parts, touching the heat light may result in burns.
    • Touching heated parts for a long time may result in burns.

    NOTE:

    Do not heat the rear bumper cover excessively.

    1. Clean the rear bumper cover surface.
      1. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper cover surface.
      2. Remove any double-sided tape from the rear bumper cover.
      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
    2. Install a new rear bumper pad LH.
      1. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper cover surface.
      2. Remove the release paper from the rear bumper pad LH.

        HINT: 

        After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

      3. Install the rear bumper pad LH as shown in the illustration.

        HINT: 

        • Install the rear bumper pad LH along the line on the rear bumper cover.
        • Press the rear bumper pad LH firmly to install it.
        • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
  18. INSTALL REAR BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER 
    1. Engage the 7 claws to install the rear bumper energy absorber.

  19. INSTALL REAR BUMPER LOWER COVER (except Sport Package) 
    1. Engage the 2 guides and 14 claws.

    2. Install the rear bumper lower cover to the rear bumper cover with the 2 screws and 4 clips.

  20. INSTALL REAR BUMPER EXTENSION (except Sport Package) 
    1. Engage the 6 guides and 10 claws.

  21. INSTALL REAR BUMPER MOULDING (for Sport Package) 
    1. Engage the 5 claws.

  22. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE MOULDING LH (for Sport Package) 
    1. Engage the 2 guides and 5 claws.

  23. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE MOULDING RH (for Sport Package)

  24. INSTALL REAR BUMPER EXTENSION (for Sport Package) 
    1. Engage the 2 guides and 8 claws.

  25. INSTALL REAR BUMPER LOWER COVER (for Sport Package)

  28. INSTALL REFLEX REFLECTOR ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Install the reflex reflector assembly LH with the 3 screws.

  30. INSTALL NO. 3 LUGGAGE ROOM WIRE (w/ Intuitive Parking Assist System) 
    1. Engage the 15 clamps to install the No. 3 luggage room wire.
