DTC P0455-00: Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (Large Leak); DTC P0456-00: Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (Very Small Leak) [12/2019 - 10/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FUEL TANK CAP ASSEMBLY
    NOTE:
    • A DTC may have been detected due to a loose fuel tank cap. Check the current condition and the conditions when the DTC was output with the customer.
    • If the vehicle was brought to the workshop due to DTC being output, but this DTC is not currently being output, the fuel cap may have been tightened.
    1. Check that the fuel tank cap is correctly installed.
    2. Tighten the fuel tank cap firmly (only one click sound could be heard).

  5. PERFORM EVAP SYSTEM CHECK (AUTOMATIC MODE)
    NOTE:
    • The Evaporative System Check (Automatic Mode) consists of 6 steps performed automatically by the GTS. It takes a maximum of approximately 24 minutes.
    • Do not perform the Evaporative System Check when the fuel tank is more than 85% full because the cut-off valve may be closed, making the fuel tank leak check unavailable.
    • Do not run the engine during this operation.
    • When the temperature of the fuel is 35°C (95°F) or higher, a large amount of vapor forms and any check results become inaccurate. When performing the Evaporative System Check, keep the temperature less than 35°C (95°F).
    1. Perform the Evaporative System Check using the GTS.

      Powertrain > Engine > Utility

      Tester Display
      Evaporative System Check
    2. After the Evaporative System Check is completed, check for pending DTCs.

Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes

      HINT:

If no pending DTCs are displayed, perform the Confirmation Driving Pattern. After this confirmation, check for pending DTCs. If no DTCs are displayed, the EVAP system is normal.
