Removal [11/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  2. REMOVE REAR WHEEL 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - ]

  3. SEPARATE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  4. DISCONNECT NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17

  5. REMOVE REAR SKID CONTROL SENSOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  6. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION ARM COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  7. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  8. SEPARATE REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  9. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  10. REMOVE REAR LOWER COIL SPRING INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  11. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  12. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  13. SEPARATE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 34

  14. DRAIN HYBRID TRANSAXLE FLUID 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  15. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Put matchmarks on the rear drive shaft assembly and rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

    2. Using a plastic hammer, separate the rear drive shaft assembly from the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

      HINT: 

      If it is difficult to separate the rear drive shaft assembly from the rear axle hub and bearing assembly, tap the end of the rear drive shaft assembly using a brass bar and a hammer.

    3. Separate the rear drive shaft assembly from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
      NOTE:
      • Do not damage the rear disc brake dust cover sub-assembly.
      • Do not damage the rear drive shaft outboard joint boot.
      • Do not drop the rear drive shaft assembly.
      • Do not push the rear axle carrier sub-assembly towards the outside of the vehicle any further than necessary.
    4. Using SST, remove the rear drive shaft assembly.

      NOTE:
      • Do not damage the rear drive shaft oil seal.
      • Do not damage the rear drive shaft inboard joint boot.
      • Do not drop the rear drive shaft assembly.
      • When removing the rear drive shaft assembly, keep it level.
  16. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT SNAP RING 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the rear drive shaft snap ring.
